When should you throw your mascara and eye pencils? Should you throw after you finished it regardless how long since you have opened it?

Each time the mascara wand touches the eyelashes it picks up bacteria and transfers them to the tube. Preservatives in the product help prevent germs breeding, but may not cope with repeated bacterial contamination over a long period of time. That explains, why sometimes we have eye irritation after we applied our mascara especially for ladies who are wearing contact lenses. Eye pencils trap bacteria, too, so take care not to scratch the eyeball.

So, when should we throw our mascara and eye pencils?

1. We should replace our mascara every three months. You might feel a bit waste if you can’t finish it on time. But please think twice as it concerns about your eyes.
2. Never share mascara with a friend.
3. Always buy new mascara after recovering from an eye infection.
4. Apply eye pencil outside the lash line.
5. Keep pencils sharpened to shed the bacteria-laden wood casing.
